GSC Demo Disc #10: November Issue – Steam Next Fest Edition

With the third and final Steam Next Fest happening last month, we are back with another bumper issue of the GSC Demo Disc! Our team has once again pulled together over 20 demos we think you should check out; a great way to discover some new games.

If you’re new to the GSC Demo Disc, it is our way to relive some of the nostalgia and excitement of the best form of video game marketing: demo discs! Enjoy a mix of titles, from AAA to Indie, out now to future releases. There is bound to be something that gets your attention!

Little Nightmares 3

The Little Nightmares series returns with a new developer in tow, bringing more of the series’ unsettling world design and puzzle-platforming gameplay. Play solo or with a friend online as a new duo of characters, Low and Alone, as they seek to escape this twisted world.

Following in the small footsteps of its predecessors, Little Nightmares 3 gives players another chance to sneak, hide, and run to survive across various locations, from sand-strewn ruins to a twisted candy factory. Expect more of the unsettling body-horror the series is known for, and try your best to stay alive in this twisted world of secrets.

He Is Coming

A roguelite auto-battler where you prepare for apocalyptic hunts every three days. The demo introduces a tactical loop of exploring by day and surviving boss hunts by night. You face over 30 unique bosses, each requiring different builds and strategies. With more than 350 items to choose from, you balance short-term survival with long-term planning.

The game’s pixel art and dark fantasy tone set the mood, while mechanics like armor, speed, and magical gear create varied synergies. It’s fast-paced, replayable, and surprisingly deep for its short runtime.

Kentum

In the 2D sci-fi survival crafting game Kentum, you play as Kent, a man turned clone who has woken up from a 7,000-year-long nap to wake up in the year 10,000 with only a stick and his dry sense of humour. He’ll have to craft, farm, and automate if he hopes to survive and have any chance of rebuilding civilisation.

Classify the flora, fauna, and minerals you discover as you explore a futuristic Earth full of oddities and mysteries, as knowledge is your greatest tool. Use all the resources you can gather to create a base you can call home, and build automated systems to optimise your way of life. And don’t worry, if you die from any number of factors, you’ll be recloned!

Cryptmaster

This word-based dungeon crawler is as bizarre as it is brilliant. You control four undead heroes by typing words to unlock abilities, solve riddles, and interact with the world. The demo features combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving, all driven by your vocabulary. You guess objects in chests, respond to the Cryptmaster’s voice, and uncover clues to your past.

The monochrome visuals and surreal humour create a unique atmosphere, while the typing mechanics offer a fresh twist on RPG progression. It’s inventive, challenging, and packed with personality.

Cronos: The New Dawn

Experience Bloober Team’s take on third-person survival horror with Cronos: The New Dawn. Become the enigmatic Traveller, wearing their Temporal Shell and wielding various firearms, travel between the ravaged wastelands of the future and a past caught in the throes of a cataclysmic event known as the Change.

Traverse these two time zones on your mission to extract the Essences of important people from the past; such is your calling, as deemed by the mysterious Collective. Shoot, burn, punch, and stomp your way through what remains of humanity, grotesque monstrosities capable of merging with corpses to mutate and grow stronger. Manage your inventory, search the environment for resources, pet cats, and whatever you do: DON’T. LET. THEM. MERGE.

Ambrosia Sky

Ambrosia Sky is a first-person immersive sim that has you returning to explore an asteroid colony that has been devastated by an unknown alien contamination. Blending rewarding exploration with relaxing cleaning, players must adapt to survive in a stylised world filled with deadly fungi and mystery. Study the various aggressive fungi as they attempt to burn, electrocute, and trap you, and use their fruit to craft new chemical agents to back fight and uncover new areas to explore.

You have been sent here as part of an order of scientists, tasked with retrieving DNA from victims of the contamination in pursuit of human immortality. But it’s personal as well, with the guilt of what you could have done to stop this if you had stayed, eating away at you. All you can do is search the remains of the colony to uncover the mystery of what happened here.

Let Them Come Onslaught

Survive the relentless hordes of aliens in pursuit of the perfect build in Let Them Come: Onslaught, an upcoming bullet-heaven roguelite. Think Survivors-like with a fresh coat of 80s action sci-fi paint!

Between runs across one of four procedurally generated worlds, you can invest your hard-earned resources to unlock and enhance your skills, and arm yourself with classic sci-fi weaponry from flamethrowers to Photon Sabers, or just nuke the planet!

Craft and tweak your playstyle as you unlock more options and experiment with them, face off against epic bosses, and wreak dazzling havoc on your alien adversaries in a blaze of laser beams, explosions, flames, bullets, and blades!

SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide

Are ya ready, gamers?! SpongeBob SquarePants is back with another 3D adventure platformer, and this time, his best friend Patrick Star is here to help! Switch seamlessly between our two heroes and use their unique skills to save Bikini Bottom from complete Ghostification brought on by a clash between King Neptune and the Flying Dutchman!

Visit iconic locations from Neptune’s Palace to Mount Bikini and enjoy a ghostly new story filled with challenges to overcome, collectibles to find, and epic bosses to battle, fully voiced by the original cast!

Neon Inferno

This cyberpunk run-and-gun blends side-scrolling action with gallery-shooter mechanics, set in a neon-drenched NYC in 2055. The demo lets you play as assassins Angelo or Mariana, battling criminal syndicates and corrupt police forces. You fight enemies in both foreground and background, parry bullets with your blade, and master bullet-time abilities.

The pixel art is rich, and the soundtrack adds to the arcade intensity. With two-player co-op, difficulty modes, and stylish combat, it’s a short but punchy experience from the creators of Steel Assault.

Constance

If the pen is mightier than the sword, then how about a paintbrush? Constance is a hand-drawn 2D action-adventure game where you play as the eponymous hero as she wields a paintbrush and harnesses the power of paint.

Explore a beautiful, non-linear, and interconnected world full of secrets, side quests, abilities, and more. Enhance Constance’s skills by drawing sketches when inspired during her journey, but be careful: using them will corrupt your paint, activating negative effects. Should you die, a choice awaits you: persevere through the challenge, at a price? Or return to a safe point and explore other unbeaten paths?

The biomes, characters, and enemies that Constance discovers are a reflection of her own mental health journey, while playable flashbacks let you experience her dealing with personal struggle, creativity, work-life balance, and inner purpose.

Skate Story

You are a demon in the Underworld, made out of glass and pain. The Devil has given you a skateboard with a simple deal: Skate to the Moon and swallow it — and you shall be freed.

Experience a skateboarding game like no other, and it’s not because Tony Hawk isn’t in the game, on the cover, or in the title! Skate through nine layers of The Underworld, the surreal landscapes of the Emptylands, populated with tortured souls and perfect places to shred.

Your board will deliver you from evil, so customise your decks, wheels, and trucks to look fly as hell while you ollie, kickflip, and grind your way to salvation. Take your delicate skater from an anxious amateur to a meditative master, and show the Devil just how greakin’ rad you are!

Sleep Awake

Led by Cory Davis (Spec Ops: The Line) and Robin Finck (Nine Inch Nails), SLEEP AWAKE is an immersive first-person psychedelic horror narrative experience that explores the realm between sleep and death.?

The game is set in the last city on Earth, where its populace tries desperately to stay awake to avoid a mysterious force called The HUSH, something that is making people who sleep disappear. You play as Katya, a young woman trying to survive and solve the puzzles of this mysterious world, all while not getting caught by the numerous fanatical death cults that inhabit what remains of this metropolis.

Blending FMV with surreal visuals, the boundary between reality and imagination is broken down in front of your eyes, leaving you unsure if what you are seeing is real or a dream, or more likely a nightmare!

Tears Of Metal

Set in a war-torn medieval world, this co-op roguelike hack-and-slash lets you lead a Scottish battalion against invading forces. The demo covers the first act, culminating in a boss fight with Gilles the Hog. You can play solo or with up to four players, unlocking emblems from different clans and collecting charms to customise your build.

The game features over 45 handcrafted environments, permanent soldier upgrades, and a settlement system for progression. With explosive combat and a mysterious Dragon Meteor event driving the story, it’s a brutal but rewarding campaign to reclaim your homeland.

Alchemist: Journey of the Soul

You play as a homunculus created by an alchemist, tasked with brewing potions and solving puzzles to earn a soul. The demo offers a first-person adventure through ancient castles and monasteries, where you gather ingredients, unlock magical abilities, and uncover hidden truths.

The gameplay blends exploration with logic-based challenges, and the alchemical theme is central to both narrative and mechanics. While some areas feel gated or underdeveloped, the core loop of crafting and discovery is engaging, and the visual style is colourful and atmospheric.

The heat is turned up to 11 with Goblin Sushi’s blend of rogue-like elements and restaurant sim gameplay! Help a little goblin realise their dream of becoming the greatest sushi chef in the goblin cave, upgrading the restaurant and menu to appease your unruly clientele.

Buster Jam

Buster Jam is a cartoon you play, bursting with a wacky, Saturday morning energy only matched by its raucous 90s and 2000s-inspired soundtrack.

The evil sorcerer, The Wizard, is attempting to rule the world after a lengthy retirement, and it is up to a couple of bizarre bombheads to save everyone from the “Wizard-topia”.

Run around five weird worlds, solo or with a friend, jam-packed with over 200 mini games and outlandish boss fights. Enjoy several different modes, including Story, Endless, and Casino modes, or battle it out in Versus mode.

REANIMAL

Tarsier Studios, the original creators of the Little Nightmares series and developers of the first two entries, is back with REANIMAL, a new atmospheric co-op horror adventure. Play as a brother and sister risking it all to save their friends and escape the island they once all called home.

Bringing their signature style to craft a new terrifying world, filled with twisted monstrosities and peculiar characters populating numerous locations, each with its own stories and mysteries to uncover. Play solo or share your journey through hell with a friend in local and online co-op, sharing one screen to heighten the tension and claustrophobia.

Hark The Ghoul

If you are looking for some old-school dungeon-crawling action, look no further than Hark the Ghoul!

Lose yourself in the labyrinthine level design of a dark Victorian city sitting under a starless sky, all rendered in a retro-modern low-poly style. The citizens have gone mad, digging frantically in the earth in search of amber, unaware of the secrets hidden below.

Face all manner of horrifying monstrosities and fantastical creatures as you explore the depths below the city, secrets hidden around every corner. Equip yourself with a range of gear, including swords, whips, pistols, cannons, artifacts, and magic, with all gear having unique properties and abilities.

Bloodletter

Bloodletter’s demo introduces a dark, medieval deck-building experience where you play a barber-surgeon healing cursed villagers through strategic card play.

Set in a grim, gothic world, Bloodletter casts you as a healer battling ancient evils corrupting the minds and bodies of villagers. The demo centres around your bathhouse, where villagers arrive seeking salvation. You use a deck of over 30 unique cards, some inspired by medieval remedies like bloodletting and trepanation, to treat them. Each card has distinct effects, and your choices shape the outcome of each encounter.

There Are No Ghosts At The Grand

Chris David has unexpectedly inherited a dilapidated English hotel; he has exactly 30 days and 30 nights to restore it to its former glory, before… something takes him!

There Are No Ghosts At The Grand is a wild mix of genres and styles, with you renovating the titular hotel as well as the village surrounding it during the day, and ghosthunting at night. Something is amiss, and it is up to you to figure out what this otherworldly disturbance is. Teamed up with a wisecracking cat and a sentient power tool, you’ll have your work cut out for you!

There Are No Ghosts At The Grand also has a musical component, with each of the village’s inhabitants having their own story to tell and song to sing. From spooky ska to skater punk, duet with each person to learn their deeper truths.

While you’re busy dealing with encroaching existential dread and the pressures of refurbishing a hotel, never mind a whole village, be sure to enjoy the many activities dotted around the small open world, including minigolf, snapping photos, searching the beaches with a metal detector, and many more!

Before I Go

This melancholic Metroidvania casts you as a child navigating a surreal world shaped by grief and decay. The demo introduces a dreamlike, non-linear environment filled with parasitic enemies and emotional storytelling. You unlock abilities like stasis and resurrection points, explore haunting landscapes, and engage in tight platforming challenges.

The first 15 minutes have been refined to deliver immediate combat and narrative hooks, while new features like crystal rings and collectible resources deepen the gameplay. It’s a contemplative journey about death acceptance, wrapped in stylised visuals and responsive controls.
