If you’re an Obsidian fan and an Xbox gamer, you might have noticed the disappearance of several Obsidian titles from Game Pass. These three Obsidian titles were removed from the Game Pass, as well as storefronts. When asked, Unity cited that these titles, all of which had been built on Unity 2017.1, had an identified “security vulnerability”. However, it was noted that these security issues would not directly impact console-based games.
Reportedly, it also wasn’t just Obsidian titles that vanished from Xbox listings. Several additional titles, including Fallout Shelter, As Dusk Falls, and Wasteland 3 were also notably missing from Game Pass. However, Obsidian has since noted that their titles have been restored to Game Pass services.
Reminder folks! A few weeks ago, we patched our games to resolve Unity's security vulnerability. The following games are available for purchase and download:??Grounded 2 Founders Edition?Grounded 2 Founders Pack?Avowed Premium Edition?Avowed Premium Edition Upgrade?Pillars…

Was this move overkill? One could reason it possibly was, especially as this Unity concern only impacted games on Unity 2017.1 but only for Android, Windows, Linux, and macOS. Regardless, Obsidian noted that many additional titles were removed as a precautionary measure. As of today, though, the following titles are not re-accessible on Xbox Game Pass:
- Grounded 2 (Founders Edition and Founders Pack)
- The base version of Grounded 2 was never removed from listings
- Avowed (both Premium Edition and Premium Edition Upgrade)
- The base version of Avowed was never removed from listings
- Pillars of Eternity (Hero Edition and Definitive Edition)
- Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire (Standard and Ultimate Editions)
- Pentiment
The Special Editions of several of the games noted above came with artbooks that were built on the Unity engine, specifically the aforementioned 2017.1 iteration.
This removal of several Obsidian titles comes on the tail-end of continued issues with Xbox outages, specifically affecting Achievement progress on many titles from the 2013 to 2018 era.
