As the economic landscape across the world changes seemingly everyday due to US tariffs, companies are continuing to adapt. Unfortunately for consumers that usually means higher prices, and today we learned that Microsoft is once again raising the price of its Xbox Series S/X consoles in the United States.

The price increase, first reported by Tom Warren at The Verge, is the second price increase for the Xbox consoles in 2025 and third price increase since they released in 2020. The price increase in May of 2025 was worldwide and saw $80 increases of the Series S and $100 of the Series X. While this latest increase isn’t as severe and is currently only in the US, it is still an increase. So what exactly is this increase?
Console | Current Price | New Price |
Xbox Series S 512GB | $379.99 | $399.99 |
Xbox Series S 1TB | $429.99 | $449.99 |
Xbox Series X | $599.99 | $659.99 |
Xbox Series X Digital Edition | $549.99 | $599.99 |
Xbox Series X 2GB Galaxy Black Edition | $729.99 | $799.99 |
As you can see by the chart the Xbox Series S consoles are going up $20 and the Series X consoles are going up $50 while the most expensive Galaxy Black Edition is going up $70.
Microsoft also released a statement on their website stating that these changes are “due to changes in the macroeconomic environment.” The changes will go into effect on October 3rd.
You may also recall that earlier this year Xbox raised the prices of their first party software from $69.99 to $79.99 in that same May announcement before walking it back later. They also announced that first party game would be a code in a box for their physical versions before also walking that back as well.
Unfortunately, unless tariffs get dropped between the US and China, I doubt we see a reversal of these console price increases.
