During the latest big Nintendo Direct showcase - read the full breakdown of everything covered here - Nintendo unveiled the latest Mario Tennis game, Mario Tennis Fever which will launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
Mario Tennis Fever is the latest Mario racket and green ball game since Mario Tennis Aces which launched in 2018 on the original Switch. The game brings in new fancy footwork including slides, dives and other defensive manouevres.
Players will be able to play the game with Joy-Con controls – rekindling the feeling of swinging your old Wii Remote on Wii Sports!
Fever Shots are a new addition to the gameplay. After building up your power bar, you will be able to use one of 30 Fever Rackets, each with their own ability that will give players the edge on the court:

Game modes in Mario Tennis Fever
Tournament Mode
Mario Tennis Fever brings new wacky and fun game modes including tournament mode, with Super Mario Wonder’s flower as the court commentator.
Trial Towers Mode
Aim for the top of the Tower by completing a variety of fun challenges.

Mix it Up Mode
Matches with "˜unexpected rules'. Wonder effects from Super Mario Wonder will also feature.

Adventure Mode
Players will be turned into baby characters from the Mario franchise and be sent on an adventure to regain their tennis skills and defeat monsters to normal. It looks a really exciting addition to the series.



Online play
Online play is also featured which features both casual play via Online Rooms, which allows for fun modifiers. For more competitive players, there is more traditional tennis in Ranked Play.
When does Mario Tennis Fever release?
Mario Tennis Fever will release on February 12 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are available today on the Nintendo eShop.
Will there be a physical release of Mario Tennis Fever? And will the game be a Game-Key Card?
A physical version is also coming, it is unknown if the physical release will launch on a Game-Key Card.
