Use the Hell is Us: Solve the Captain’s Office Mystery guide to solve one of the mysteries in the town of Jova.

Hell is Us is third-person action-adventure game that aims to “return to the roots of adventure games” by getting players to rely on their instincts rather than way points and map markers. It’s ambitious and quite rewarding to make progress and discover stuff off the beaten path.

There’s a whole host of puzzles, mysteries and strange items to be found in the world of Hadea, where Hell is Us is set. Not to mention weird looking enemies too!

With that in mind, we’ve pulled together some guides which we hope are helpful. Please note that these won’t necessarily be step-by-step walkthroughs, but things to look out for to help solve the mystery.

Hell is Us: Solve the Captain’s Office Mystery Guide

Throughout Hell is Us, you’ll encounter items that pertain to a ‘mystery’. These are described as “curious enigmas and ancient puzzles scattered throughout Hadea”. You can track these in your Datapad where you can see your inventory, general progress and other things.

The Captain’s Office Mystery takes place in the town of Jova. It’s in the Acasa Marshes, the second area of the game. To start the mystery, you’re on the lookout for a two storied house with graffiti on the front of it.

To get in, head to the right of the house and go up the crates. You’ll need to enter from the second floor.

Once inside, head downstairs and find the fridge. In the fridge (yellow orb) you’ll grab a half-empty (or half-full depending on your out look on life), bottle of mead.

Another bottle??

You’ll need to grab a second bottle to solve this mystery though. Head to Lake Cynon and head to the vehicle to the right of the area, close the water’s edge. I got this when Abbott Jaffer and Rebecca appeared there. The full bottle is on the edge of a porch in a crate of bottles.

My Round?

Now, you need to head back to the town of Jova, Acasa Marshes. You’re looking for Serge Sneff who is sat on a bench, quite inebriated. You’ll need to give him both bottles. On giving him the full bottle of mead, he’ll give you the key to an office in Jova.

Head to the right from Serge Sneff and seek out the large building near the entrance to Jova, where the army is set up. Head up the outside ladder. Walk through the roof and drop down to the balcony.
