Update: The good news story for Xbox physical collectors continues as it appears Xbox has changed their mind on the standard editions of their games containing codes in a box.
When we originally wrote this story a few weeks ago, it was only the premium edition coming with a disc and it was only 1 retailer announcing it. We are now happy to say that multiple retailers in both the US and Canada are showing the change.
Amazon and GameStop US have now updated their listing to include disc + code in a box. Here in Canada Video Game Plus and others have updated it as well. This is also the case for Ninja Gaiden 4.

This aligns with what I've been told by some sources that moving forward Xbox will continue to sell a premium edition of its games with a disc + code in a box. They think this will be the best for now as they try to appease both physical collectors and those who want play anywhere.
Standard Edition Following Suit?
While this news has been exciting for many, others were still a bit upset about it only being the premium edition. Well that appears to be changing as well.
So far it is only one retailer, but GameStop Canada is now listing The Outer Worlds 2 Standard Edition as having a disc on Xbox. Looking at the Ninja Gaiden 4 listing it doesn't specify code or disc at the moment.

This would mark a significant turn around for Xbox assuming it is true (GameStop likely wouldn't change its listing without receiving an updated listing from Microsoft).
We will continue to update this story if any news comes about, but for now the vocal Xbox physical fans can take their victory lap. Now if we can just get the full game on the disc!
Original Story
After yesterday's announcement that Xbox is lowering the price of their holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, we now have even more good news to report for physical fans.
After previously being announced as codes in a box on Xbox, the physical versions of Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 will now indeed ship with a disc instead. This has been confirmed by Canadian retailer PNP Games who has begun taking pre-orders for the premium editions now that a disc is confirmed. The game was already being shipped on disc on PlayStation.

This is fantastic news for those who prefer physical media and is a definite win on Xbox's part to listen to feedback. We here at Gamer Social Club have been speaking up on behalf of the community for exactly this and telling others to do so.
We wrote a piece on this featuring the Xbox physical community not too long ago about how they were feeling left out. Today this is no longer the case.
One thing that is unclear at the moment is how much of the games will be on disc. Based on previous games from Xbox first party the guess is no, but we will take what we can get at this point.
There's also still no word on a physical edition of Gears Of War: Reloaded for Xbox at this time. We have reached out to Xbox to see if they can comment on the status of Gears and for any comment on the change to go to disc. We will update this story if we hear anything.
