Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Full Reveal at Gamescom ONL

Revealed at Xbox's Summer Showcase last month, 2025's Call of Duty will be Black Ops 7. And in very little time, we will get our first full look at the game.

Next month is Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. At the start of Gamescom every year is blockbuster show, Opening Night Live (ONL) presented by industry event icon and creator of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley. ONL is known for being full of reveals for upcoming games.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will feature at ONL, taking place on August 19 2025 - 11am PT / 2pm PT / 8pm CEST.

Black Ops 7 takes place after Black Ops 6 and all-time Black Ops fan favourite, 2. Black Ops 2 is wholeheartedly adored in the Call of Duty community and still played by many people to this day, despite launching on the Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 generation in 2012.

The game takes place in the near-future setting of 2035 and will put us in control of series favourite, David Mason - who can forget the iconic Black Ops 1 line "The numbers, Mason!". The game will be the first in a long time to feature a co-operative campaign.

In what has recently become the new normal for Call of Duty games, this will be a sequel in the same sub-series only a year after Black Ops 6. This follows 2022's Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, being followed up by Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 in 2023. Traditionally, the Call of Duty series had alternated between a variety of sub-series including the older Modern Warfare and Black Ops titles.

Black Ops 6 got off to a lightning start when it launched last year with the title seeing almost half of Xbox Series players playing up the game, largely in part to the fact it is included in Game Pass. At the time, UK ISP EE reported the biggest amount of gaming traffic ever on their network. Activation will be hoping that Black Ops 7 follows the same initial traffic to the biggest game release of the year.

Black Ops 7 will launch in late-2025 with a date to be announced. Black Ops 7 will come to last-gen (Xbox One and PlayStation 4), as well as Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, PC (Steam and Battle.net). The game will launch Day One in Game Pass for console, cloud and PC.
