Nintendo today confirmed the Drag x Drive release date, its upcoming wheelchair basketball title.
The release date was revealed in the Nintendo Today app, via a short trailer, which you can view below.
It’s been confirmed that Drag x Drive release date will be on 14 August 2025 for Nintendo Switch 2.
Drag x Drive was revealed at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April. The game’s hook is that you use both Joy-Con 2 controllers in mouse controls mode. You use the mouse controls to recreate the movements of moving a wheelchair backwards and forwards. You can then lift the Joy-Con 2 controller to throw the ball to score points and win the game!
What we know
There’s little else known about Drag x Drive. We know the teams are made up of three, and the game will be digital only. You can play with friends against people around the world. However, what modes, options, and customisations are to be included is yet to be seen.
The game’s price has been confirmed to be $29.99 CAD, $19.99US, and £16.99 in the UK.
I like the look of Drag x Drive, and I’m glad it’s received a release date. That being said, I do hope there’s more to it than what we’ve seen so far. People might write it off as a tech demo rather than a full-fledged demo.
I’m also concerned about how easy it will be to pick up and play, given the requirements for mouse controls. In my Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour review, I found switching to mouse controls finicky. They necessitated me moving to my desk as the tops of my legs weren’t adequate play spaces.

Well, we won’t have long to wait to find out. Next month, Donkey Kong Bananza, and then August for Drag x Drive.
Will you be trying it out when it releases?
