Hellblade 2 Physical Edition Listed On ESRB

Fans of physical media on Xbox may have reason to celebrate if a new ESRB rating page is to be believed. A new rating for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II physical edition has shown up on the rating website suggesting an Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 release with Limited Run Games being listed as the publisher.

While neither Limited Run Games nor Xbox have come out and said anything officially, an ESRB rating is a definitive enough source. The posting shows all major retailers including Amazon, Gamestop and Walmart as retailers for the edition. It would be a safe bet to see it on the Limited Run Games website as well.

This would be yet another partnership between Xbox and Limited Run Games after previously printing copies of Pentiment and Grounded. The one discouraging thing about this is that these announcements only come after an Xbox game is announced for PlayStation. With Hellblade 2 being announced for PlayStation 5 earlier this month that would continue this trend.

When Xbox has done physical releases of late it has either been a code in a box like Avowed or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, or with next to nothing on the disc like Doom: The Dark Ages. This has left many fans frustrated with how Xbox is treating those who prefer physical copies of their games and some have even boycotted purchasing them as a result.

With the recent report from us about Xbox no longer having minimum print requirements we are hopeful this is a new trend that will see more and more physical games supported on the Xbox platform.

While there are no details around the Hellblade 2 physical release we should hear something soon. This doens’t seem like a big enough piece of news to put into the upcoming Xbox showcase unless they are going to be announcing a bunch of physical games all at once. As soon as we get more details we will be sure to update this article.

Hellblade 2 released back in May of 2024 to a mostly positive reception. We at Gamer Social Club gave it a 9 in our review saying:

“Everything from the story to the graphics and world building to the gameplay have seen massive upgrades from what was already a great original game to deliver a sequel that is one of the can’t miss games of 2024.”

While our rating was a big high compared to its metacritic score of 81 it is still considered by many to be a great game and one of the best looking games on the market.

Switch Edition Coming For First Hellblade

Additionally, another post on ESRB has suggested that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be getting a physical release on the Nintendo Switch. This will also be printed by Limited Run Games and is something Nintendo fans have been asking for since it released back in 2019.

It certainly is a bit curious why they would wait so long to print a physical edition on the Switch, especially considering the Switch is the console that has mostly held onto being a physical device. Either way it is good to see physical being supported more.
