[UPDATE] The contents of the upcoming “FINAL FANTASY IX 25th Anniversary Vinyl – Timeless Tale” have been revealed, along with a video preview, which you can watch below.
The vinyl will have both original and new recordings of Melodies of Life. Here is what is included on the FFIX 25th anniversary vinyl:

Emiko Shiratori, who sang on the original version of Melodies of Life, returns for the new 2025 version of the song. The vinyl cover artwork is another new illustration from Toshiyuki Itanashi, and includes liner notes from the legendary Nobuo Uematsu and others.
The “FINAL FANTASY IX 25th Anniversary Vinyl – Timeless Tale” is set to release on July 9th, 2025. The vinyl was revealed as part of the first line of merchandise on the Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary website.

The merchandise keeps on coming! Square Enix has just announced more merch celebrating the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX, which originally released on July 7th, 2000.
The new lines, which we will detail below, were added to the official Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary website, which Square Enix launched earlier this year.
First up is an absolutely delightful Vivi ceramic mug, complete with Black Mage hat lid!
The mug’s height is about 7.5cm, with a capacity of about 250ml. It is scheduled to release on August 8th, and is priced at Â¥3,520/$24.24/£21.83 (price estimates).
We aren’t finished with the most iconic Black Mage, though! Next up is a Vivi plush bag, complete with Vivi’s striped trouser pattern as the inner lining.
The bag’s dimensions are 18cm x 19cm, with a stitched leather handle secured using clips. It has a soft, fluffy texture and an “outstanding presence”. The Vivi plush bag is scheduled to release on August 16th and is priced at Â¥3,960/$27.27/£20.51 (price estimates).
For those FFIX fans who are looking for something to collect, then look no further than the Final Fantasy IX mini acrylic stand set! Including all 8 party members, these mini acrylic stands feature new artwork by the legendary Toshiyuki Itanashi, one of the original character designers on FFIX.
Each mini acrylic stand is approximately 50-65mm in height and will also be released on August 16th. The full set is priced at ¥5,280/$52.00/£39.99.
The final additions to the Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary merch line are two sets of illustrated acrylic stands, also created by Toshiyuki Itanashi. The two sets feature Freya the Burmecian Dragoon, and the best Black Mage there is, Vivi, also accompanied by his friend and bad influence, Rat Kid.

These slightly larger acrylic stands range from 93-137mm in height and are priced at ¥1,540/$15.99/£12.99 for each set. These will be released alongside the other acrylic stands on August 16th.
This is only the latest drop of FFIX merchandise that Square Enix has announced in the build-up to the much-loved JRPG’s 25th anniversary, and most of it is available to preorder on the official Square Enix online store.
The Vivi mug and plush bag seem to only be available through the Japanese version of the site.
While fans will no doubt be thrilled with these new additions, as are we, it will no doubt continue to fan the flames of the heavily rumored Final Fantasy IX remake that was first mentioned back in 2021.
