What. A. Day! It seems the internet was set alight by the flames of Oblivion, after Bethesda just casually shadow dropped a huge, and I mean HUGE, remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Of course, we know of all the improvements made following the official live stream, but how much of an improvement is it? Substantial is the word I’d use. But if you’d like to see a comparison, well, good news, because we’ve pulled one together for you.
The video below has both the original Xbox 360 version (running on a Series X) and the new and shiny Oblivion Remastered version (also running on an Xbox Series X).
The video covers the opening scenes and the first section of the game as you escape from the prison and enter Cyrodil for the first time. The sound included in the Oblivion comparison video is from the Remastered version
As you can see in the video, there’s a whole load of improvements and additions. The first obvious thing to note is the glow-up the game has received. It looks pretty good damn good, and that’s only from the very early parts of the game. I can’t wait to sit atop a mountain and wait for the sun to set, just like I did 19 years ago.
The UI, menu, and controls seem great so far, too. The upgrades they’ve given feel great and natural. I honestly can’t wait to dive in properly and give it all my time over the summer!
Are you one of the hundreds of thousands of people playing Oblivion Remastered? What did you think of the Oblivion comparison? Is it what you were hoping for?
