Builds

Let’s break this down by weapon, as that will define your playstyle most, and then can be tweaked using Perks and Weapon Upgrades. Just before that though, we’d like to mention two points that are important for all players, regardless of build.

Collect Dust To Fill Your Dust Vial

Dust, the currency dropped from enemies, you use at Dust Shrines around the map to upgrade one of your 3 Characteristics: Vitality, Attack, and Empathy. The key thing to remember is that you just need to hit an enemy once to earn Dust from their demise.

You can improve your Characteristics permanently using Eternal Shards, once you have unlocked Weapon Upgrades at Feat Level 6. Each weapon has a single stat you can improve, which are:

  • Sword – Vitality
  • Daggers – Critical Damage
  • Staff – Empathy
  • Bow – Attack

These are worth improving for all players, regardless of their choice of weapon and playstyle.

Sword

If you run with the sword, you are the de facto Tank in 33 Immortals. Congratulations!

First and foremost, your Guard special attack is unbelievably powerful! Not only can it be used to block incoming damage, AOE (Area of Effect) and projectile attacks included, but you are invulnerable during your Gavel Bash counterattack! That’s right, you’re not a tank because you start with loads of health and armour, but because you can technically never get hurt! Get used to standing your ground, reading enemy animations, and readying your Guard to devastating effect. Just make sure you have enough Justice to use it.

Arguably, the sword is the hardest weapon to farm Dust with, so get used to either focusing on the enemy your teammates are attacking, or dodging around to get a hit off on any nearby enemies. This way, you can get a good amount of Dust as the run plays out.

When it comes to Weapon Upgrades, our first pick is the Shockwave. This is, without a doubt, the most useful sword Weapon Upgrade, as it helps the player hit more enemies, earning them more Dust.

Pairing Shockwave with either Inner Justice (earn Justice passively instead of from hitting enemies) or Frenzy (the more Justice you have, the quicker your light attacks are) is a great way to keep your Justice up. This keeps your Shockwave active, and also helps with your Guard, which drains Justice.

Daggers

As a Daggers wielder, your goal is to be the highest damage dealer possible!

The daggers hit fast and deal high critical damage to multiple enemies. As you attack, you’ll build up your Greed meter, which can be used to deal a huge chunk of damage using your Takedown attack. The Takedown is a long-range leap attack, so once your Greed meter is full, fall back and jump right back into the fray to unleash big damage.

You shouldn’t find it difficult to pick up Dust with the daggers, as you can hit multiple enemies at once with their fast consecutive hits. So pump a few dust upgrades into attack to increase your base damage and keep on swinging. After Attack prioritise Empathy as it increases the time your co-op buff is active for.

The daggers co-op buff Greedy Strikes also pairs really well with the Bow. If you activate it prior to helping a bow user activate theirs, the attack will do increased damage, and you’ll get a ton of bones to help power up your Greedy Strikes even more.

We’d recommend Patience and Quick Strikes as upgrades. Patience boosts your attack as your greed meter starts to deplete, making it perfect for when you can’t find an opening for your Takedown. It also boosts movement speed for a short time, so you can close the gap between enemies or get out of trouble. Quick Strikes does exactly what it says – your slashes get faster after every 4 successful hits, up to a cap. Pair this with the attack boost from Greedy Strikes and a high crit rate, and you’ll be hitting elites and bosses with co-strikes for huge damage.

Staff

Staff users are a mid-range class that provides crowd control, the closest to a support role, but still very powerful!

Your special attack Torpor is a greater opener, slowing enemies it hits, making it easier for you and other players to hit multiple targets. Hold it down before releasing to increase the wave’s area, catching more enemies in its effect. The Staff is ranged, but slow, so keeping foes at bay is handy for not missing with your projectiles.

Your projectiles do small AOE damage, so you can hit grouped targets with a single attack, helping towards your Dust farming. What will help with that even more is what Weapon Upgrades you pick.

The two best Weapon Upgrades for the Staff are Bouncing Orbs and Scattered Orbs. The first makes your orb attacks bounce once into smaller orbs after hitting the ground, and the second lets you throw another small orb for each two consecutive regular attacks made (this has a cap). With this combination, you will be wiping out whole groups of enemies on your own, and hoarding more Dust than you’ll know what to do with!

Bow

You are the designated ranged DPS, and we are going to make the most of that!

Your special attack recalls the 6 arrows you can fire, either light or heavy, back to you in a straight line from where they landed. While this may not feel as significant as what the others get, when used correctly can make it impossible for enemies to avoid your wrath! Recalled arrows will pierce through and hit all enemies on their path back to you, so move around the battlefield to get your targets grouped up.

The Bow is easily the best for Dust farming, seeing as how you can hit everything from range there and back. But do you know how we can still improve? Making it quicker, with your Weapon Upgrades!

The pair of Weapon Upgrades we think work best are Quick Shot, which improves your attack speed, and Mobile Light, which makes you move faster(and even quicker with an empty quiver). Being able to shoot and move quicker is going to make killing enemies, collecting Dust, and staying out of trouble easy!

Perks

Here we will cover what we think are the Perks you should be running with to get the most out of each run. Most Perks do very little at level 1, but you’ll feel the impact once you start upgrading them. At level 5, some of these Perks are frankly ridiculous!

You get 6 Perk Slots total, with the last one being unlocked at Feat Level 19.

Fool’s Fate, Fortitude of Heart, and Soaring Grace – These three Perks, which increase your Attack, Vitality, and Empathy respectively, are all solid picks. Pumping up your Characteristics is a great idea, as most of your other stats are based on those; so the higher the base, the better. When maxxed out, they give you +5, a big boost to enter each run with!

With good Dust farming, you can have at least one of your Characteristics in the double digits by the time you finish your first Torture Chamber. Couple this with the correct relics (Burnt Cincture, Seraphic Tear, Celestial Green Feather) and you become a beast!

Renewal of Dust – A personal favourite of this writer, Renewal of Dust increases the % of Dust you earn from defeating enemies. At level 5, you get 100%, in other words, double what you would get without this Perk! By the time someone without it has their first full Dust Vial, at level 5, you’ll be getting your second upgrade. It is a must for Dust farming, and one that works for all weapon users.

Scourge of Omnipotence – This Perk improves the % chance you will find more Eternal Shards when opening chests and smashing urns whilst out in the Beyond. Since Eternal Shards are what you use to permanently unlock and improve your Perks and Characteristics, the Scourge of Omnipotence is a great Perk to speed up those processes.

Empyreal Deceptiveness – This Relic increases your critical damage by 100% when your Co-strike Counter is above a certain number, which gets lower as you level it up. Particularly useful for Daggers wielders.

Astute Erudite – Anything that helps you get your Co-op Ability ready quicker is worthy of having, and this Perk does exactly that! At level 1, it boosts Co-op Power generation by 12%, and at level 5, it’s 60%!

Cosmic Rebirth – Increases your damage by a % when your health is full, up to 25% at level 5. Another boost to your damage is always good, and it’s not like you’re trying to get hit!

Relics

In 33 Immortals, Relics are items you get from chests (and occasionally elite enemies) found in the Beyond. They bestow useful passives during the current run. You can have up to 8 Relics equipped, with the option to dismantle them to earn Bones.

At Feat Level 8, you can pay 75 Stardust to Wish on a Relic, significantly increasing your chances of finding it on your next run. It only lasts for one run, but you can spend Stardust to stack more runs. You can also Wish on several Relics at once, just remember you can only have up to 8 equipped.

You also have the option to reroll a Relic you find or have equipped for an increasing number of Bones to get the one you want.

Burnt Cincture, Celestial Green Feather, Seraphic Tear – We mentioned these three Relics earlier when covering Perks, and here is why. Depending on which one you equip, the Relic makes it so one of your Characteristics counts as half of another one. So, for example, if you have 10 Attack and equip the Burnt Cincture, you will get 5 Vitality. These three Relics are a great way to boost your most important stats quickly and without spending Bones or using up a Perk Slot.

Lover’s Skull – Boosting a player’s damage by 40% makes this Relic one of the strongest in 33 Immortals, with no downsides!

Lamp of Purifying Flames – Regenerate 1% of your health every 5 seconds. Constant passive healing? Yes please!

Holy Book of Hymns – Critical hits do 25% more damage per nearby player (max 250%). Ideally, you will never be on your own during a run, and as long as 10 other players reach the boss fight, you’ll get the full benefit from it.

Bloodstained Stole – With this Relic, your Co-op Power generates 100% faster, meaning players can use their Co-op Abilities more often.

Clerical Cilice – The Clerical Cilice increases your critical hit chance by 4% per Co-strike level. Great for everyone, especially Daggers users.
