As far as games go, Split Fiction is a relatively easy one to complete for achievement and trophy hunters. Having said that there are a few difficult ones to grab, the most difficult likely being Cold Potato in the Game Show side story. We’re going to do our best to help guide you through this one.

Explaining Cold Potato & The Game Show
The Game Show is one of the side stories, side story 5 to be exact. It is found in Chapter 3: Walking Stick Of Doom. This side story takes Mio and Zoe inside a game show that is all about getting a bomb to the end of the level without it blowing up. The catch is you must throw the bomb back and forth between players to reset the bombs timer. There are 7 rounds in total each progressively getting more difficult.
The Cold Potato achievement/trophy is for completing the Game show in one go. Yes you read that right, you must complete all 7 rounds of the game show without failing once. If you are going for Cold Potato and fail you will need to restart the entire game show. This doesn’t mean 1 player can’t die however. If you can respawn and throw it back in time you can still continue. It is only if both players die or the bomb explodes that the achievement/trophy will be voided. With all of this in mind before we give actual tips for each round let us say 4 things.
- Listen to the bomb – The bomb will make a sound that gets louder the closer it is to exploding. You may freak out that it will blow soon but it takes longer than you might think. This brings us to our second tip
- Don’t Panic – If you think the bomb is exploding don’t panic. If a player dies but the bomb is still ok, don’t panic. We did a perfect run testing this while dying multiple times. It doesn’t have to look pretty, it just has to work
- Communicate – This is pretty obvious but talk to your partner. Let them know when you are throwing the bomb so they are prepared to catch it.
- Aiming – So aiming for this you don’t actually need to be super accurate. As long as you are looking in a relative direction of your partner the bomb should go to them. The player catching also has a pretty wide range of catching. When pressing RT/R2 to catch if the bomb is close it will pull it into you.
Round 1
Round 1 is obviously the easiest of them all and is simply showing you the basics. Press RT/R2 to throw if you have the bomb and press RT/R2 to catch the bomb if you are receiving it. For this round you will be on separate platforms and just need to throw the bomb back and forth 4 times. Easy stuff.
Round 2
Round 2 is quite simple as well. Player 2 will start with the bomb. Grab it and sprint as fast as you can tilting the camera angle towards each other as you do. About 3/4 of the way across the straight you can pass it to player 1 and then just run to where you dispose the bomb. If you want to play it safe and get a feel for the throwing and catching mechanics feel free to do so on this level, but 1 throw should get the job done easily.

Round 3
Round 3 is where things start to get a little tricky but not too challenging. Player 1 will start with the bomb and there will be a giant wall in between the players to block your throws. Luckily there are green platforms on the ground that will periodically blast air which will shoot the players up.

If you want to play this conservatively feel free to just go spot to spot and throwing across feel free to do so. What worked best for us however was letting the boosts go off once before starting and waiting about 1 second after they go off. Once that happens grab the bomb and sprint to the second boost rather than the first. It cuts it close but should be fine if you have the timing right.
Then sprint to the end of the wall and throw it one last time before having plenty of time to dispose the bomb. Because of the timing here on the boost this was actually one of the more difficult rounds in our opinion.
Round 4
The heat gets turned up in round 4 (literally) but it looks more intimidating than it is. Player 2 starts with the bomb. Both players can run to the end of the first straight away where the fire is. Wait until the fire traps finish then quickly throw it across to player 1 and run through the first set of traps and jumps.

As soon as you turn the corner throw back to player 2 once you are both there. Wait for the next traps to end then proceed. As soon as you get through this section and turn the corner throw again once you see your partner. You might panic hearing the bomb but I assure you there's enough time. Then dispose of the bomb.
Round 5
Honestly round 5 might be the most difficult. You have to avoid a tank while throwing the bomb back and forth. Thankfully there's a pretty easy method. As soon as player 1 grabs the bomb both players need to run forward diagonally away from the tank. This means player 1 runs forward and left, player 2 runs forward and right.

The goal is to create enough separation between players as the tank is hunting the bomb. Let the tank get relatively close to player 1 and throw it across. The tank will turn to chase player 2 now. With any luck and good timing the tank will essentially be behind you both after the first throw. The tank is faster though so make sure you throw back and forth before dispose the bomb and keeping the tank moving around.
Round 6
Another one that looks more intimidating than it is. Player 2 starts with the bomb but both players have the exact same path and obstacles. Jump across the moving platforms and stop at the spot right before the booster and throw across to player 1 and jump up over the fire.

If you feel comfortable jump onto the next set of moving platforms and throw across again. This will be your last throw and you can quickly make it to the disposal site.
If you aren't comfortable throwing on the moving platforms throw across before the second set of platforms and run across. If you do this method however you will need to throw once more before disposal on the other side of the platforms.
Round 7
The final round and maybe the most difficult outside of the tank but not too bad. Player 1 starts with the bomb. Get to the spot just before the zapping trap and throw it across.

Getting through the zapper is honestly the hardest part here. If you prefer double jumping then start your jump while the zapper is going so you land when it stops and jump again. If you prefer a dash jump then the second it stops jump and dash then jump across quickly.
You should have enough time to take the platform up to the next section before throwing back to player 1. You can always play it safe and throw it before if you'd like. Once on top go to the spot before the booster and throw across one last time before jumping up and disposing the bomb.

This is the final round and you will have hopefully earned your Cold Potato achievement/trophy! If this guide helped you we'd appreciate a like or comment to let us know. Good luck and see below for a guide to all other Split Fiction achievements and trophies.
