For the first time since the franchise has come to Xbox, MLB The Show 25 will not be joining Xbox Game Pass when it launches on March 18th.
The news comes today as PlayStation announced this years cover athletes along with the release date of March 18th. This years cover will feature 3 players, Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson. This is also the franchises 20th anniversary. For baseball fans these 3 players represent the next wave of superstars in MLB.
Skipping Subscription Services
While the game is once again releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and the Nintendo Switch, it will not be releasing on any subscription service in 2025 according to the post.
"The game will not be on platform subscription services in 2025."

While this obviously means no Xbox Game Pass for the first time, the wording would seem to suggest that The Show 25 will not join PlayStation Plus later in the year as it typically does.
Why this change has suddenly occurred is unknown. MLB was the one signing the deals with Xbox for Game Pass so it seems to be their decision. While the games did see a big boost when they came to Xbox years ago we haven't heard how much of an impact the platform has had lately.
For those interested in getting a glimpse at MLB The Show 25 Sony San Diego will show the first look trailer on February 4th. Additionally those who pre-order the digital deluxe version will receive 4 days of early access beginning on March 14th.
