Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Review

Blacks Op 6 Multiplayer might be the best we have had in years! Another yearly release from the team at Activision, but this one comes from Treyarch. They have taken the past 4 years to develop Black Ops 6, and dare I say it might be one of the best entries in the series. New maps, new weapons, new operators and a whole lot of bodies!!

With this new entry comes a brand new movement system called "Omni-movement". Omni-movement allows you to run or dive in any direction. This just add another level to the competition and chaos of multiplayer. Now you have players diving through doors sideways, diving off things backwards, it’s so much fun to see what players are doing with this new mechanic. Omni-movement also works when laying prone. Now you can lay flat and rotate in a complete 360.

Omni-movement is truly great and coming from MW3(Modern Warfare 3) it is a big improvement. The running and movement overall feels so smooth. From diving to sliding it truly feels amazing. I remember playing the beta and having to go back to MW3 and you could truly feel the difference in movement and gameplay. I really think this is a huge improvement.

Guns Blazing

Now let’s talk about the literal gun show. I love the guns in this game! The starting options feel great and not underpowered. I personally love shotguns and marksman rifles but the XM4 assault rifle has been a staple in my loadouts. Each gun does exactly what you want them to do. Changing and mixing up your loadouts with the right gun, perks and tactical weapons are all apart of the experience.

Another part is grinding to unlock the weapon attachments. As you level up, you unlock more weapons and each weapon has a mastery grind to unlock as well. As you progress you unlock attachments such as scopes, muzzles, magazines and more. There are also customization options that you unlock as well, things like camo, charms, reticules, decals, etc. I’m currently on the grind to unlock the gold color for my shotgun.

Along with weapons you have scorestreaks. As you make kills and stay alive the more scorestreaks you can unlock in a match. It’s a great feeling going on a bloodthirsty kill streak and then calling in a Watchdog Helo( a helicopter with a machine gun). Scorestreaks range from the RC-XD, UAV, Naplam Strike and my new favorite the Archangel Launcher. The Archangel Launcher, allows you to shoot a rocket and control where the rocket goes.

Maps and Modes...

With a new Call of Duty, comes brand new maps. I have spent several hours on each map in different modes. Usually I have a couple I really dislike but these are pretty equal. So far my favorites have been Subsonic, Skyline, Gala, RedCard and Payback. I love the fact RedCard is a soccer stadium, the only thing I don’t like is we can’t run on the pitch!

Spending so much time in multiplayer, I have had a chance to learn the layouts of the maps. You need to know that so you can know where campers like to hide or where snipers like to set up. One thing I will point out is how good the locations of each map looks.

All the classic modes make a return as well. Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed and more. Kill Order is the newest mode in Black Ops 6. In Kill Order, you have to protect your HVT(High Value Target), while trying to kill the other team’s. I played several games of this mode, and while it’s fun it can get frustrating. A lot of times your HVT will just run off, it works better when you are playing with your friends. There are also featured playlists that the game offers. Infected, where once you are eliminated you become infected and have to infect others before they eliminate you. Gun Fight, Kill Order and Face Off are others currently featured.

NukeTown Returns….

November 1st was the release of a classic and all time favorite map for Black Ops fans, NukeTown!!! Nuketown comes back and it looks better than ever. Everything still looks the same but they have made some small design changes. Overall it still feels like NukeTown and campers are still hiding in the same spots. Along with its release, Treyarch celebrated with a double weapon and XP weekend.

This is it….

Overall, I have enjoyed my experience with the game. There have been some things I haven’t liked; some spawn points are not in good areas, and how the other team will randomly start spawning in the same area as your are two that did bother me. But these are the sort of issues hat can be fixed with patch updates. I had a few bugs where the game glitched and was booted from the match. Not a big deal, but there was a significantly smaller amount of operators to start compared to MW3.

Like I said though, this has been my favorite COD multiplayer in a long time. Might even be the best, but that is still to come. I’m really looking forward to see what new operators, guns and packs come out over the next year.
