Exciting news for fans of Deathbound, and any Soulslike fans looking for a new challenge. Deathbound, the party-based Soulslike game that launched earlier this year, is getting its first DLC release very soon, and it sounds like it’s going to be a spicy one, if the announcement from developer Trialforge Studio is anything to go by.
Titled ‘Accepted by Death’ the new DLC will see plays stepping into the “liminal space between Life and Death”, the Path to Death. It introduces a new boss rush mode that represent the five stages of grief (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance). If you can accept your grief and overcome it, will you be able to find peace?
Success in the boss rush brings you to face the final confrontation, “Grief – The Purifier” who is described as a “corrupted judge of essences, and the mightiest of them all”.
The DLC also adds a new ‘Hardcore Mode’. This sounds like the ultimate test of your Soulslike skills. If a character falls in battle, they will not return. You are encouraged to truly master all aspects of the games fun party-based combat to succeed.

The key features of the Accepted by Death DLC:
- The Gauntlet of Grief: Tackle reimagined battles against the five stages of grief in an unforgiving Boss Rush. Each encounter offers new mechanics and challenges, culminating in the ultimate test against Grief - The Purifier.
- No Second Chances: Experience the harshest challenge yet with Hardcore Mode, where death is permanent, and each decision could be your last. Only the most skilled will survive.
- Essence of Power: Equip powerful new items like the Cloak of Semanthia, which enhances stamina regeneration when your health is low, or unlock the Anointed Therone skin and The Purger sword, granting an entirely new moveset to dominate your enemies.
- Walk the Path of Death: Unravel deeper layers of Deathbound's lore while exploring the new Path to Death area.

The Accepted by Death DLC for Deathbound launches next week on 28 October, and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles.
