The studio’s director Josef Fares took to Twitter earlier today and responded to fan questions about Hazelight’s next game in a short message with some interesting details.
Posting from his personal account, Fares said “Getting a lot of questions about the next game. Here is a tease. It is a BRAND NEW IP called S*** ******N. Can't wait to show it soon”. Obvious cryptic clue about the game’s name aside, Fares made it clear that it would be a totally new IP and that we should expect to hear more soon (perhaps at this year’s Game Awards?)

The BAFTA award winning Hazelight Studios quoted their director’s post in their own, a tongue-in-cheek response complete with an image of the new IP’s game development document. A fun continuation of the joke, crossing out the name and date of release, it also offered up a few extra morsels of information.
As well as confirming that their next game would be published by EA as part of their EA Originals programme, some scribbled notes on a post-it seemingly confirm it is a co-op title. The last detail I noticed is what looks to be two names “Mio” and “Zoe” repeated on the corner of a page under the top sheets.

The EA Originals programme has been a point of pride and celebration for the publisher, helping bring smaller titles like Lost in Random, Immortals of Aveum, and this year’s Metroidvania hit Tales of Kenzera: Zau. No doubt with the success of Hazelight’s last release (which also reached the 20 million units sold milestone ealier this week,) EA were quick to secure their next project.
As the mind behind games like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, A Way Out, and the GOTY for 2021 It Takes Two, it comes as no surprise that the next game from Fares and Hazelight Studios would be another co-op experience. Hopefully we won’t have to wait long to hear more about it!
