FTC Files Motion Against Microsoft's Game Pass Standard Tier & Price Increases

In a court filing today the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has raised concerns over Xbox's new Xbox Game Pass Standard Tier as well as our recent price increases as the government agency continues its fight against Microsoft over its Activision-Blizzard-King merger.

The FTC filing against Microsoft

The filing cites that the new Xbox Game Pass Standard Tier is a "degraded product" and that combined with the price increase "are the hallmarks of a firm using its market power post merger".

The FTC also cited that during the previous trials Microsoft claimed they would not increase prices of Game Pass because of the merger and have still done so mere months before Call Of Duty enters the service.

This motion was filed in the courts 9th District Circuit. It's far too early to determine what will come of this but it appears Microsoft's battle with the US government is far from over.
