Prune & Milo – Review

Prune & Milo is the newest release from the publisher JanduSoft and offers an interesting twist on the sokoban puzzle style.

Watch for the monsters patterns!

In the game, you begin as Milo, embarking on a camping vacation with your sister Prune. As you explore, Milo unexpectedly falls into a mysterious cave, kicking off your adventure.

Initially, the game features straightforward puzzle interactions, such as moving rocks. Soon after, you discover a sword and encounter various monsters. Each monster type follows distinct movement patterns. To progress, you must defeat monsters, manipulate obstacles, and evade their attacks strategically.

Perfect level completion!

Each level includes 3 stats to aim for to achieve 3 stars. Complete each level under a specific movement goal, take no damage and defeat all the monsters. Each level also includes a hidden gem to find.

Use your binoculars to plan your path through levels.

As you progress, new puzzle mechanics will be introduced, accompanied by new companions. When you reunite with your sister Prune, she joins armed with a bow for ranged attacks. To navigate through levels successfully, you’ll need to strategically switch between characters and utilize their unique abilities.

Fun new puzzle mechanics keep things interesting.

The game comprises 78 turn-based puzzle levels where your goal is to conquer them all to prevent the end of the world. Mastering each level will thoroughly challenge your puzzle-solving abilities. Completing the game involves achieving 3-star ratings on all 78 levels and collecting every gem, which is no simple feat. As of now, no one on Xbox has managed to complete all of the game’s achievements.

While some levels proved quite frustrating, overall, I found the experience enjoyable.

Prune & Milo is out now and available on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Nintendo.
