Updated: As per windows central Xbox Game Pass is set to receive a major overhaul and price increase. Including new tiers.
Starting on 10 July 2024:
- Soon, new Xbox users can sign up for Xbox Game Pass standard. Standard works similar to EA Accesss in that it will no longer have day 1 releases. Prices for standard will be $14.99 USD.
- Game Pass Ultimate will remain as is but will increase to $19.99 USD.
- PC Game Pass will continue to see day 1 releases and it's price will now be $11.99 USD.
- Game Pass Core yearly price will increase to $74.99 but monthly will stay the same at $9.99
It should be noted that if you are a current Xbox Game Pass subscriber you will continue to get day 1 games as long as you stay subscribed.
As part of the announcement, Microsoft has set up a support page on Xbox.com to outline the changes that are coming around the world.
Worldwide prices are changing for Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and 12-month subscriptions to Game Pass Core.
- On July 10, 2024, updated prices take effect for new member subscriptions.
- Starting September 12, 2024, the price of recurring charges will change for existing members. Select countries are excluded from this price update. Recurring billing dates will not change. New prices take effect on the next recurring billing charge after September 12, 2024.

Original Story: In a move we all thought might eventually come, it appears Xbox Game Pass Ultimate prices are on the rise, in Canada at least.
As per an email being sent to customers in Canada the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is rising to $22.99 per month. This is a price increase of $4 as the previous price in Canada was $18.99 for 1 month. According to the email the price increase will take place September 12th, 2024.
It should be noted that this price increase makes Game Pass Ultimate in Canada roughly $17 USD. There is no word at this time if this is an increase to better match global pricing in Canada or not. There's also no indication that this increase is happening in other countries. There's also no information if other Game Pass prices (ie core) will be raised as well.
